My Story

Who I am at heart is an adventurous, outgoing and joyful woman, with a lust for life and a can-do attitude. But the person I became into my 40s, was numb at best, and at worst – moody, angry and joyless.

More than that, I was also becoming increasingly unwell, despite living a fairly healthy, active life. My lungs, kidneys, liver and gall bladder were all suffering to some degree. I had lymph and thyroid problems, an unhappy colon, eye problems. The list goes on…

I came to understand that my illness, anger and unhappiness did not stem from my life as an adult, but rather from somewhere deep inside me, related to entirely unresolved childhood trauma.

Gradually, I found the strength to look at it: To acknowledge that I was sexually abused for years as a child. And to admit to myself that not only was my childhood pain manifesting itself emotionally, through bouts of sadness and frequent irrational outbursts, it was also manifesting in my body, as disease and dis-ease.

I knew I had to face my demons. I realised that at the age of seven, I went from being a carefree, adventurous and spirited child, to a survivor. And that as an adult, I just kept on surviving. I survived three miscarriages, my fiancé’s hit and run accident resulting in his death, six months of bedridden hospitalisation, and so much more. (Perhaps my childhood trauma was also the armour that somehow helped me deal with subsequent traumatic events?)

Once I faced my childhood trauma and sexual abuse, I was able to go on a mission to find answers – and get help.

I started to nurture myself. I changed my diet. I changed my friends. I read different books and watched different programmes. I sought out things and people that could help with my growth and healing.

My family were extremely supportive of my healing journey and I will be forever grateful for their love and support. I have met the most incredible people along the way – teachers, friends, gurus and healers, who have helped (and are still helping) me to heal. I am thankful to each and every one of them. Perhaps you will find a connection on this page – one that could lead to a wonderful awakening and a healing of your past trauma.

For years, those around me would never have guessed what was going on inside me. I “suffered in silence” as an adult, just as I did when I was a child. By my mid-40s, this survival mechanism nearly killed me. But through determination, knowledge-seeking, self-love and a whole lot of help along the way, I am finding my way back to wellness, finding my way back to the real me. I now know that I can let go of the need to survive and instead – thrive!

I am passionate about helping others find their own path to wellness. We can all be so much more if offered a helping hand.
